Almost 90 flags, representing the universality and unity of the Church and given to WYD by pilgrims will be joined together to run from hand to hand as if they were a single flag and will move along with the Holy Father. Raise your arms high so that he can see them!
If you bring your flag position yourself in C/ Pío XII where it joins Avenida comandante Franco and wave your flag as the Pope drives by.

Pa-palmeo (Clapping for the Pope)
Ole! Ole! Long live the Pope! Hundreds of young people will clap to the same rhythm as the Pope drives by. Let the whole world see the rhythm of the young people of WYD!
If you have castanets use this typically Spanish instrument to follow the rhythm of the clapping!

Come with an image of the Virgin Mary, the one you always have in your mind, the one you like most, the one you have most devotion for… bring it and raise it up as the Pope drives by.

Petals for the Pope
On this stretch of the Popemobile’s route strew all the petals you can find. If you have a garden, or a florist near your house or flowers with special colors, bring the petals and throw them to the Holy Father.

The heart of Madrid
Bring your heart and present it to Benedict XVI. Make your own heart out of red card and whatever size you want, cut it out and wave it joyfully as the Holy Father drives by.

Puenting
Do you want to take part in a very special bridging (puenting)? There are 24 bridges on the Pope’s routes. On one of them you can see the Draw Wrap; two rolls of drawings drawn for the Pope by children will be unfolded.
White confetti made with WYD recycled paper will be thrown from other bridges. All the WYD posters will also be hung along with all those that you have made.
Farewell with the Vatican’s colors
All the pilgrims who want to can bring white and yellow handkerchiefs to wave goodbye to the Holy Father.
